Roots 1948
Pieksäwood has been manufacturing wood products in the same factory for more than 70 years. Väinö Koponen founded the company in 1948 under the name Puutavaraliike V. Koponen.
Generation change 1980
Almost thirty years later, the first generational change occurred when the company’s name was changed to Pieksämäen Rakennuspuu and Väinö’s son Esko Koponen became the CEO.
New materials 2000
The processing of black alder and aspen began. A modern heat treatment plant was built in our factory in Pieksämäki to support the processing of aspen and black alder.
A new dream of wood 2015
In 2015, it was time for the next generational change. Since there was no successor in the family, Sami Koskinen became an entrepreneur and CEO — it was time for a new dream to begin.
Rebranding 2020
Pieksämäen Rakennuspuu gets a new name and a stunning visual brand. The company is succinctly named Pieksäwood. The company’s product range is expanded with ecological composite wood. Pieksäwood’s operations are supported by another entrepreneur, Juha Koivu.

Our operations grow. A new building and a third planing line are taken into use.

Pieksäwood continues the traditions spanning decades as a family business and a reliable seller of wood products.
Today, Pieksäwood provides jobs to about 20 wood processing, sales, marketing and financial management professionals.
